Forex CADJPY USDCAD Commodity currencies outperformed the rest of the majors as investor risk appetite, aided by stabilizing financial markets, gained a bid. Aussie benefited from its high yielding status while the Loonie rose on profit taking. Bank of Japan's decision to lower rates into negative territory had the expected effect of jolting a complacent market into frenzied selling of the Yen. By doing this they rejoined the other major economic zones that are either in the throes of QE or about to escalate the program. The lone exception to this is the FED but the recent spate of volatility in the financial markets has most market pundits anticipating a deceleration to the normalization process.
Equity Japan Germany Japanese indices surged following the BOJ surprise in a week that saw most of the major global bourses rise.
Commodity Heating Oil Silver Crude prices continued to rebound from extremely oversold levels as talk that production quotas might be cut spurred further profit taking.
  • Pivot Points & Fibonacci Retracement Levels - Weekly
A technical analysis indicator used to try and determine the short-term trend of the market. The pivot point is the average of the high, low and closing prices from the previous trading period. If the market on the following period trades above the pivot point it is thought to be exhibiting bullish sentiment, whereas trading below the pivot point is seen as bearish. The Fibonacci retracement is the potential reversal of a financial instrument's original move in price.(click to enlarge)FOREX_013016_w.png
