On Tuesday, Bank of England Governor disrupted speculation that he would support higher interest rates.  Delivering his Mansion House speech, the BOE head highlighted that inflation pressures are subdued and wage growth is anemic.

Today’s Trading Edge: GBP/USD volatility runs high as UK polls send mixed messages

The British pound sold off early on Wednesday after the YouGov poll showed that the Conservative Party would fall short of the outright majority by 16 seats.  Sterling reversed those losses after a new poll by Panelbase put Conservatives at 48% and Labor at 33%, a gain of 1 percentage point from the Mid-May poll.

Today’s Trading Edge: GBP/USD sinks after GDP figures miss

The British pound continues to respect the psychological 1.3000 handle and traded lower after preliminary first quarter GDP came in lighter across the board.  Both the quarterly reading missed by a tenth of a percentage point at 0.2% and the year over year reading at 2.0%.

Today’s Trading Edge: GBP/USD trades steady as PM May set to deliver signed letter invoking Article 50 that will start Brexit process on Wednesday morning

The British pound trades steady ahead of the historic moment of invoking Article 50.  The Brexit process, which includes two years of negotiations to withdraw from the European Union will take place on Wednesday morning.  Prime Minister May is expected to deliver the signed letter to European Council President Donald Tusk between 11:00 to 13:00 GMT.
