Market Best Performer Worst Performer Comments
Forex  CADJPY  USDCAD US Dollar declined slightly, a move that looks to be corrective at this juncture, while the Euro continued to plumb the depths, making 19-month lows, before retracing on reports that the ECB may not implement QE next week. CAD strengthened as the acquisition of Tim Hortons Inc. raised speculation that more M&A activity will increase demand for the local currency.
Equity FTSE 100 Hang Seng US Stocks ended a bit lower a day after the S&P500 breached the 2000 level for the first time ever. UK stocks rose on optimistic comments about oil&gas company Petrofac. Profit taking continues to hit Hong Kong stocks as investors eye Chinese data for signs of economic resurgence.
Commodity  Natural Gas US Crude Oil (WTI) Natural gas rose on forecasts that temperatures will revert to their summer norms. Crude oil declined on forecasts of lower Q4 demand and a less than expected drop in supply.
