Forex & Equities: Week's Key Events & Session Ranges

Posted by Akhilesh Ganti on Apr 27, 2014 10:56:00 PM

The trading week started out on a slow note but volatility should pick up as the week unfolds. The main events that the market will be keeping an eye on are the BOJ and FOMC Monetary Policy announcements on Wednesday, where traders will parse through the rhetoric for clues about any meaningful shift in the forecasts, and the US Non-Farm Payroll report on Friday.

Japan's Retail Sales for March was released today and it posted a year-on-year increase of +11% which was slightly higher than the +10.8% consensus. While this was cause for optimism, conventional wisdom suggests that consumer spending should decline in response to the higher sales tax, an outcome that the BOJ is probably keenly aware of as they deliberate the prospect of additional stimulus measures.
