Little top tier data in the week ahead. Wednesday sees wholesale inventories for July. Thursday has August Import and Export prices and the usual weekly jobless claims data. The Federal Budget for August is also released on Thursday. Friday is the most action packed day of the week with August retail sales, the August producer price index and finally the preliminary University of Michigan sentiment surveys for September. We’re even light on Fed speakers this week. Monday, September 9 has Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco President John Williams addressing the National Association for Business Economics in San Francisco. Friday has Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City President Esther George addressing the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research Shadow Open Market Committee meeting in New York with at least audience Q&A. Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis President Narayana Kocherlakota speaks at NYU Stern School of Business in New York on Friday also with audience Q&A. Esther George of the Kansas City Fed has been consistently hawkish and favors trimming the U.S. central bank's asset purchase program.
