Australia Home Loan Approvals rise at a slower pace

Posted by Akhilesh Ganti on Jun 10, 2013 9:47:00 PM

The number of new home loans in Australia showed a deceleration as they came out at +0.8% -vs- the +2.0% that the market was expecting. Value of home loans to investors rose 1.1% in April while owner occupied home loan values fell by 0.9%. AUD/USD, which had been trading just above 0.9400, fell quickly as it made new session lows at 0.9380 before rebounding a bit. The pair last traded at these levels in September of 2010 as the bearish tone that has plagued this currency over the past few weeks shows no sign of abating.
